Depression sucks. It can creep into any aspect of your life and make you feel isolated from the world. Often, we feel like we are the only ones experiencing these emotions, but I’m here to tell you that you are not alone. What you are going through is a universal experience, and there are resources out there to help.

A few years ago, a study at Massachusetts General Hospital concluded that almost 10% of all college students struggle with depression. That is about 2 MILLION college students across the country. My goal bringing this up is to make the point that depression shouldn’t make you feel isolated or alone. Depression is common, and something that many students struggle to overcome. Instead of viewing depression as isolating, focus on how universal depression is. Know that there are many others who have gone through what you are going through and have made it out on the other side. Don’t be afraid to look for help from friends or family, and don’t hesitate to talk to a professional if you think that could help.
