Designated Buddy

Have a designated buddy, Be a designated buddy – Close the Loop! Always Look Out For Each Other

ALWAYS go out in groups and stay together. Do not leave anyone behind when you leave a party or any social event. Even is your friend says he (she) wants to stay, if he (she) has been drinking, he (she) probably isn’t thinking clearly and will thank you in the morning for not leaving them in a compromising situation.

CLOSING THE LOOP means that you never just assume someone is okay. If you have doubts call for help. Don’t send the person home in a cab or Uber. Closing the Loop means making sure they are taking care of, and staying to ensure their safety – full circle.

Campus Safety Tips

  • Know your resources (i.e. health center, blue lights, campus escort system)
  • Stay alert at all times and be aware of your surroundings
  • Be careful about posting your location on social media
  • Make others earn your trust
  • Always have a back-up plan
  • Use the buddy system

About Rachael’s First Week

Rachael’s First Week LIVE! is a program dedicated to   protecting the lives of high school seniors and college freshmen as they transition into young adult women and men.

These can be tumultuous years when peers often look to each other for guidance as they encounter novel and potentially dangerous situations, rather than engaging experienced mentors to provide solutions.

The mission of Rachael’s First Week is to develop the decision-making skills of teens as they enter this time of monumental change in their lives.
